Description FireWire Cat 5 Repeater This is an industrial FireWire Repeater!  It allows you to connect FireWire devices that are up to 85 meters away via Cat 6 (and up to 70 meters via Cat5e).  The metal enclosures ensure the components inside are well protected.  Please note, these are for indoor use, as they are not water resistant.  In other words, if you drive a submarine, we don't recommend you using these onboard! Why would I need this? By specification, FireWire is only sustainable for 15ft.  But, we've found that the rules can be broken.  Let's say you have a video camera that's a hundred feet away from the computer.  This kit will allow you to make that happen. Compatible with FireWire devices it doesn't matter what brand, make or model your FireWire device is, this is compatible.  It's just as if your FireWire port were right there by your device. SETUP DIAGRAM When the above kit is setup correctly, this is what your setup should look like for proper functionality.  Normally, a standard Cat 5e/Cat 6 patch cable works.  however, if you have a different setup, you may require the couple and cable that comes with the repeater kit.  These are included at no extra charge.
