FireWire Power Injection Cable
The FireWire Power Injection cable will allow you to power a 9pin FireWire 800 device from a non-powered 4pin port.
Why would I need this?
When you don't want the FireWire bus powering the device, this allows you to directly control the flow of power going into your device with an external power source. This can be really beneficial when that's the only form of surge protection you have. It can also help reduce noise from noisy bus power.
I have a laptop, can this add power to that?
Definitely. Most PC laptops have a 4pin FireWire port, which means that it doesn't supply power. If you have something that needs bus power, this cable can help. By inserting this in the FireWire chain, you can inject bus power into your stream.
