FireWire Cat 5 800Mbps Repeater Kit
This is an industrial FireWire 800 Repeater! It allows you to connect FireWire devices that are up to 100 meters (about 328ft) away via inexpensive Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable. It's very easy to use and requires no software installation. Just plug and go.
Why would I need this?
Normally FireWire is only sustainable for about 15ft. There are a couple of ways to increase that a little. But, let's say you have a video camera that connect through FireWire and you want to run it to a computer that's 250ft away. This kit will allow you to seamlessly connect it.
Bus power / Remote Power
This is a unique kit that allows you to power both units through the bus power of your FireWire port (such as with a Macbook Pro, or a Desktop PC). Additionally, it sends power over the line to power the second unit in the kit as well. Please note that laptop PC's normally have a 4pin, which doesn't supply power, in that case you'll need the optional power adapter.
