This is an industrial FireWire Optical Repeater. It allows you to connect FireWire devices, such as HD cameras, that at up to 500 meters away, that's about 1,600ft
Why would I need this?
This FireWire extension kit is used to extend a current FireWire connection, such as cameras, drives, and other FireWire devices over long distances. It can be very helpful if you're wanting to take pictures around a large subject, via tethered connection. Our fast connection helps you to keep the full speed at the maximum distance, with virtually no latency.
Compatible with FireWire devices
it doesn't matter what brand, make or model your FireWire device is, a standard 1394 port (6 pin) is used on the device. Simply plug the first unit into the computer (Mac or PC) and the second into the device. The flawless, seamless connection makes connecting a snap.
